Romeo and Juliet: Thanks to the Expiration Date
If I were given a chance to
change the ending of Romeo and Juliet, it would be like this:
After exiting the house of the
Apothecary, Romeo continued on his journey to Verona. Meanwhile, in the Capulet
family tomb, Juliet’s poison wore off. Juliet panicked and decided to just
sleep like nothing happened and gave her best to stay still. Juliet heard the
cries of Paris and decided to let him know that she is alive. Then, Paris told
Juliet how much he love her and they need to get married as soon as possible.
Juliet refused Paris, she explained how much she loves Romeo and she is willing
to do anything just to be with Romeo. Paris saw the love in Juliet’s eyes as she
told her love to Romeo, at that moment, he decided to let go. Juliet decided to
get some sleep in the tomb as she was very tired.
As Romeo entered the Capulet
tomb, he is very much confused for there are no guards around. He almost cried
in joy and sorrow when he saw his beloved Juliet in the tomb, looking beautiful
as ever. He suddenly remembered the poison that the Apothecary gave him, he
rummaged his pocket and when he will drink it, he saw the expiration date. He
saw that the poison is expired a year ago already; he got mad and threw the bottle
of poison. Juliet got startled at the sound of the breaking glass; she suddenly
got up the tomb and saw her beloved Romeo.
When their eyes met, they felt a
spark going through their entire bodies. Romeo didn’t waste the chance to hug
and kiss Juliet. They went out of the tomb while holding hands and their families
saw happiness in their eyes as they explained what really happened all these
times. Both families ended their feud to let the couple have their everlasting
love, forever.
